Our Story
We’re Geoff and Tracey Rigney. Over the last several years we transformed a rather boring plot of land in Union County Ohio into Homer’s Bay Art & Garden. It is our “forever home” and flower farm where we strive to be good stewards of what we’ve been provided while sharing our love for the outdoors with others. We grow fresh flowers and take full advantage of our workshop as mechanics and makers with one goal, to delight and bring joy to our customers.
Not quite empty-nesters in the traditional sense, we share Homer’s Bay with Lowell the English coonhound adopted from Gentle Jake’s Coonhound Rescue and three cats, Mia, Mac and Tac all who happened to simply stray into our lives over the years.
More about Tracey
Tracey is most happy in the gardens around Homer’s Bay, satisfying a childhood passion of garden design and cultivation. She often recalls spending hours on end as a child looking through the pages of Reader’s Digest Practical Guide to Home Landscaping, a book that found its way to her family’s bookshelf. Often wondering just why she didn’t pursue horticulture as a career path early on, she is doing all she can to make up for lost time.
More about Geoff
Though no stranger to the chores of gardening: weeding, pruning and shoveling tons of soil and compost at Homer’s Bay, Geoff often seeks refuge in the shop designing, making and maintaining the garden tools and equipment used on the flower farm. The apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. He learned the skills and value of DIY and hard work toiling in his grandpa’s U-pick sweetcorn patch in Westerville, Ohio in the early 1970’s. He didn’t appreciate it much as a kid, but now considers the farm a labor of love.
So, who is Homer?
We’re glad you asked. Homer was our first English coonhound rescue who was adopted into our family when the kids were all little 20 years ago. He was with us for nearly sixteen years. We cherish the memories of him and the time he spent as a member of our family. His bay left indelible impression on us and a love for the sound of a hound’s bay.
